Week 48, December 5
Prepare for power outages. The power grid is a mess nationwide in the U.S. If you are in Europe or the U.K. you are facing outages due to inadequate supplies. Are you ready for an outage or even the possibility you will need to set the thermostat at a lower temperature to preserve fuel.
Prepare now to be ready when the temperature plunges and your family is cold. Texas is the perfect example of how unprepared most governments, power providers and families really are for freezing temperatures. Again, remember if a natural disaster has ever happened in your area it can happen again.
This week examine and replace weather stripping, insulate pipes both inside and outside the house. If you rent press your landlord if these need attention. Change filters in heaters. Have your fireplace inspected and cleaned. Stock up on fuel, wood for the fireplace, propane and charcoal for alternate cooking, make or get the supplies for a paint can heater (directions in your Totally Ready binder)
Review week 45. Have you accomplished those challenges?
