January 22nd Week Three
For help staying on task print out each week’s goals and place them in your binder. As you complete one cross it off. When you are on vacation, ill, or just overwhelmed and you miss a day or a week, you will have a record to go back to so you can catch up.
Monday: Print the article Mylar Blankets Save the Day and review it with your family.
Tuesday: Review Mylar Blankets Save the Day and decide how many you will need. You will need one or two in every Five-Day kit, office kit, and car kit. You will need some to cover windows and doors during a power outage. You will need some for all first aid kits, for pets, so many needs they can help with.
Wednesday: Based on the list you created yesterday purchase a stash of Mylar blankets. You can order them in bulk so compare prices and work with others for bigger savings. A search for wholesale Mylar blankets will help you find the best prices for large orders. Again, order what you can afford and add any remaining needed to your wish list.
Thursday: Time to ask yourself a few more questions.
Does your family have a fire escape plan?
Have you rehearsed your fire escape plan?
Do you and your children know how to test the door to see if the fire is on the other side?
Does everyone in the family know how to use a fire extinguisher?
Friday: Do you own a tent? Set it up to make sure everyone in the family knows how. Clean it up. During a winter power outage, set it up in your gathering room. Play games in the tent during the day and sleep in it at night. If you have a fireplace in a bedroom prepare to sleep in that room. If you don’t have a fireplace in a bedroom but want to sleep in your bed, place your tent on the bed. Now you have the comfort of the mattress and the warmth of the tent.
Saturday: Review the notes you made of items needed to replace your clothes washer and dryer during an outage. These should include, liquid detergent, clothesline, and clothes pins. AND add a five-gallon bucket with a lid and a new plunger. We will be using those next week. Purchase anything you don’t have on hand.
Sunday: Rest up. We will be creating next week!
